Microstructure and morphology dependence of clinker on chemical composition and raw material fineness

The morphology of any material is directly related to its chemical composition and the process involved in its production/ occurrence. This paper presents an assessment of the microscopy of nominally similar cement clinkers from cement production facilities in India. Clinker samples were collected from various cement plants for microscopic evaluation. The XRF and physical tests were also carried out for each clinker in terms of chemical composition and the impact of clinker morphology on strength development. The results indicate a clear relationship between the morphology and the chemical and physical data of clinker. The experimental results points out the relation between clinker microstructure and its chemistry.
