Numeric modelling of exhaust gas flow in cement production

An inappropriate duct design causes an increase in electrical power consumption for the transportation of exhaust gas in a cement production plant. Due to local hydraulic resistances additional fan input power is required to overcome the increased pressure drop. A reduction of the flow resistances is possible by means of geometrical changes to the design. Different suggestions to reduce the flow resistance have been theoretically investigated. Based on the flow simulation an analysis of the investigated modifications has been performed. The accuracy of the mathematical model has been verified by experimental data.
